Another quick week has flown by at Prendergast C.P. and we have had so many highlights.

Our Year 6 John Muir group enjoyed a great afternoon this week, off school site, gaining even more outdoor skills - Carving, Bushcraft etc.

Our Dance Group also had a good time and represented the school so well at Tenby Leisure Centre.

On Monday, we appointed Six School Meals Investigators - Tegan, Josh, Hannah , Osain, Molly and Andrei who have the responsibility to monitor our new school meals arrangements, collecting evidence at lunchtimes. Our children, across the school, have fantastic ides and we need to ensure that they are involved in all aspects of school life. Our young "Investigators" are due to give a progress update on a fortnightly basis and will be visiting County Hall on Monday to meet with the School Meals Service Business Manager.

In our whole school assembly yesterday, our Year 5 pupil, Megan S was presented with Radio Pembrokeshire's Child of Courage Award. Megan has Scoliosis and wears a body  brace for 23 hours a day. In school , she is always happy and hardworking. At the time of Radio Pembrokeshire's  Awards Ceremony, Megan was with her family in America, preparing for her spinal operation in May. It was great for us all to be present as her school family as she received her award in school yesterday in the company of her parents and sisters.

Yesterday afternoon , we celebrated great musical talent  as our instrumentalists played for a large audience - well done all.

This morning's whole school assembly continued to showcase talent. The Dance group performed some dances for all to watch and Luke O who recently gave an excellent drumming performance at the Valero festival "wowed" us all. It was amazing - all 500 and more children clapped and cheered as he played so fantastically - certainly my "Caught" moment of the week!

Our Year 5 children enjoyed their time finding out more about The Easter Story at St Mary's Church today. They had a great time.

A great turn out at our Easter Eggstravaganza this afternoon, well done to everyone who attended an had such great fun together.

    Have a super weekend everyone!!!

The latter part of this week has offered us some glorious weather of which we are grateful as nearly all our Year 5 children have been enjoying themselves at Llangrannog. It is always interesting when we have a good number of children absent from school on a residential visit as to how we all miss them and the majority of us (always myself) cannot settle until they return safely. It just illustrates the significant impact that every child has upon our school and how close we all are as a school family.

The Llangrannog crew have had a great time  - well done to them and big thanks to all the staff members who took them . Mrs K Reynolds said that the children and staff together made a fantastic team -real Values in action!

The children at school today looked great dressed in their red clothes & noses and were so happy in assembly. Together we raised nearly one thousand pounds for Comic Relief. Well Done and thank you all.

Have a great weekend  - Happy Mothers Day!

There has been a lot of activity at school throughout the week and already the classes are midway through this half term's topic.

Following on from the children's survey regarding school lunchtimes, we now have some exciting developments to look forward to next half term.  Catering Services have agreed to trial the salad bar for all children for the first half term of the Summer Term (previously it was just for Year 3 to Year 6).  In addition, there will be a packed lunch option for all children throughout the school for the duration of the Summer Term.  We are grateful for this provision and hope that it works well for all.

The Military Kids Club Heroes children enjoyed their After School Club with W01 Clayton and Staff Sergeant Russell and have been learning more about Coding.  Their after school provision this week was followed by a visit to Brawdy, which was certainly enjoyed by the children.

There have been many groups working outdoors this week - it was a joy to see our Thursday Bushcraft group return with Miss Harries and Mrs Raymond, loudly chatting with enthusiasm as they entered the school building after a bug hunt.  Well done!

Dyfed Cross Country Championships was held yesterday evening at Carmarthen  -  a big well done to all of our entrants, not only for practising so hard and competing so well but also for the fantastic behaviour!!!!

More chick eggs have arrived this week, we hope that they will soon start to hatch!

Our Year 5 children are off to Llangranog next week and we look forward to welcoming our Nursery newbie intake for after Easter at Playgroup next Wednesday - it was good to see you all at school today!!

    Have a great weekend everyone!.

The children and staff returned from half term ready to face a very busy week at school - Pancake Day, St Davids Day, Pupil Voice Art and World Book Day.

The week started with both Years 1 and 5 enjoying the day at Folly Farm(successfully avoiding the rain). There was a very different emphasis for each year group - the day enhancing our Paws, Claws and Whiskers topic for the younger children whilst giving our Year 5 group the opportunity to more fully understand the mechanics of the fairground. During their time at Folly Farm , some eager pancake makers managed to burn the pancakes, resulting in the rest of us evacuating the building due to the fire alarm sounding. Nevertheless, a good fire drill exercise for all - everyone out in less than 3 minutes!!

We all celebrated St Davids Day through song and dance on Wednesday afternoon. The children looked great( well done everyone) and participated beautifully as each Year group presented an item to share with the rest of the school and also our "best friends" from the Day Centre.

On Thursday, a group of our Year 6 children worked with local artists with a view to capture their thoughts on play through artwork, this will link into the pupil voice work the children have undertaken regarding what play means all - they have, of course, included our Values such as Freedom, Co operation , Happiness, Caring etc..We hope to see this work displayed at next week's Play Conference at Folly Farm.

Many exciting things have continued throughout the week, culminating in a celebration of World Book Day today. The dress code was Pyjamas and Story book, whilst the theme was "Cosy In Classrooms" -a truly, special family day observing staff and children together - relaxing and sharing a love of books - delightful!

Have a good weekend everyone - another busy week next week.
