  • Swimming Lessons for Classes 6DC, 6LG and 5SB at Haverfordwest Leisure Centre.

    Mon 27 Sep 2021

This term should see a return to weekly swimming sessions for Year 6 and Year 5 Classes, however the Leisure Centre has regrettably had to cancel some sessions due to staff shortages, which has prevented our learners from accessing free tuition.

We can only hope that things get back to normal and that our children are able to return to their swimming lessons in the forthcoming weeks, and in the meantime all pupils will have alternative physical education activities at school.

  • Sustrans Bike/Scooter to School Week 27th September to 1st October.

    Mon 27 Sep 2021

Come rain or shine please support this initiative if/when possible this week and all future weeks.

Why cycle or scoot the school run?

There are loads of benefits to getting active on the way to school.

    1. It's a boost to children's physical and mental health and wellbeing
    2. Children arrive more relaxed, alert and ready to start the day.
    3. There's reduced congestion and pollution around the school gates.
    4. Children are more aware of road safety and feel more independent.

  • What a great week!

    Fri 24 Sep 2021 Ms L John

I am very proud of all staff and children of Prendergast School, who have worked together again this week during all teaching and learning activities. Da iawn pawb!

A special mention to Year 5 Teacher, Mr Layzell, who organised the first Inter House Football Festival for all children in Years 4, 5 and 6, where 170 pupils took part in matches and skills' activities.

Mr Gary Harries from Haverfordwest Town Football Academy and Haverfordwest High Year 12 Pupils, Niall, Jess and Sarah supported the Health and Wellbeing Event.

Our children represented their Houses, Caldey, Grassholm, Ramsey and Skomer and great sportmanship and smiles were evident in equal measure.

During this afternoon's outdoor assembly learners from each class were mentioned for their achievements in their individual classes, and children celebrating their birthdays this week were wished a 'Happy Birthday' too!

Before the end of the school day Mr Layzell announced the event's winner from this morning's festival, Team Skomer, however the attitudes and values of the Prendergast Children demonstrated this week makes them all winners!

    Have a great weekend,

    Ms John

    Dear Parent/Carer

It has been a very busy week at Prendergast C.P.  At the start of the week our Governors were involved in a very rigorous recruitment process.  They appointed Ms. Louise John who is the current Headteacher at Hook C.P. School to be the next Headteacher at Prendergast C.P. when I leave for early retirement at the end of term.  Many Congratulations to Ms. John, we wish her every success.  She is due to begin at the school at the start of the academic year.  Already, we have made plans to work together for a successful transition.  Ms. John is already well known to the school and the Haverfordwest Cluster, she is really looking forward to working with everyone here at Prendergast.

Today, parents and carers will have the opportunity to view Sports Day footage uploaded by each child's class teacher.  The children have been watching clips in class as part of our assembly - but you can also watch extended versions at home by following the links sent out to you.  We had many different options planned at our school for Sports Day - the spectator free option was by far the safest for you all, so hopefully you can enjoy it from the comfort of your own home.

In the same way that Sports Day plans have been adapted, so have Y6 transition arrangements to HHVC.  The school has, following the cancellation of its organised transition days, offered safer "bubble" based options.  We are grateful for their efforts with this.

You will receive your child's report today.  If you wish to discuss any issue around this, please contact the school.  Teachers have spent considerable time in preparing classes for September.  You have been informed of your child's class teacher for next year.  Arrangements have ben made for our children to spend some quality time with their new teacher in their current bubble.

Finally, some lovely news to finish this week.  Mrs. Jenkins (Nursery) and Mr. Jenkins (Yr 1) have had their first child.  Baby Osian George was born on Monday - good luck to them all.

    Have a good weekend all.

    Fri 25 Jun 2021 Mrs. D. Davies

What a strange week it has been at school - without 1K!  Thank you boys and girls in 1K for being so brave and keeping yourselves safe after you missed your Sports Day due to your "bubble" needing to isolate.  You are stars!  We hope to see you back at school next Friday ready for your Sports Day.

Throughout the school, there has been a buzz of excitement as classes engage with their learning - it has been great to see everyone in our whole school assembly this afternoon :)

Next week will be a busy week at Prendergast C.P. - our Governors appoint our new Headteacher on Tuesday.  We wish them all the best as they make such a difficult decision.

Thank you for your hard work this week everyone.

    Have a great weekend.

    Fri 18 Jun 2021 Mrs. D. Davies

We have reached the end of another busy week at school.  Throughout the school, children are working hard and engaging well - many have enjoyed practising sports activities this week in readiness for their class "Sports Day" next week.  The latter will be filmed in parts which will be shared with us all on Friday 2nd July.

There is excitement at the school as we move towards the end of term and year groups transition to a different year.

Obviously, our Year 6 children are being well prepped in readiness for their big move.  Today, many watched a virtual  presentation of the construction of the new HHVC School, it was quite spectacular!  Transition Days on site are still planned to be face to face experiences at the end of the month.

Yet again, it was great to see all our children on screen this afternoon in our whole school assembly.
