    Fri 11 Jun 2021 Mrs. D. Davies

We have now been in school for a full week since half term.  Our Foundation Phase children have seen their classes returning to a more familiar layout, which has been so good - other than that all other Covid restrictions still remain.

You will have received a letter from me today regarding some arrangements between now and the end of term.  As Schools can only plan for a maximum of 50 people outdoors (which would include children, staff and any visitors), even holding Sports Day as 15 individual class events will not work  safely.  As a consequence and sadly - each class will hold their "Class Sports Day", on their P.E. day, week beginning 19th June.  Photos and video clips will be collated and we shall watch them together during our whole school assembly on Friday 2nd July - parents and carers will also have access.

Each class will be planning a "special event" as part of our whole school "Celebration" topic this half term and this will also be virtually shared with our parents.

Transition arrangements for our Year 6 classes have already started and will continue.

I hope you all have an enjoyable and safe weekend.

    Dear Parent/Carer,

I write as half term approaches to congratulate all of our children for such a successful few weeks at school.  Covid restrictions are still generally all in place and the children have just continued to engage with enthusiasm in their learning despite the challenges.

I thank you as parents also for the respectful manner in how you present on school site, ensuring that we all aim to keep each other safe. Welsh Government guidance as yet has offered little lessening of restrictions with the exception, that from this week our Foundation Phase classes are able to return to a more normal layout of seating arrangements/classroom areas of learning.

There are some provisions which have adapted to be Covid friendly which have resumed this half term outside classroom learning e.g.

    • Our Year Five children have completed the Safe Cycling Programme with Pembrokeshire County Council.
    • Year One children have completed the Kerbcraft Programme with Pembrokeshire County Council.
    • Musical tuition has continued for our musicians across the school.
    • Transition from Year 6 –Year 7 is well underway with Haverfordwest High V.C..  Our classes have already visited school site for “Walkthrough” sessions.
    • PC Jennie Thomas has continued with her Police Liaison Programme – delivering face to face practice on site.
    • Our school photographer has taken individual photographs of our children.

Planning ahead for next half term, we shall know that at this point, we are unable to make any final decisions around days out/special events/sports days etc..  We had dearly hoped to allow small numbers of parents on site to share some activities, however, at the current time, we are unable to plan for this.  Hopefully, updated Welsh Government Operational Guidance will arrive to clarify the way forward in the near future.

During the next month, our school Governors will be recruiting a new Headteacher for as early as possible in the next academic year.  You will be updated regarding this.

I hope our whole school topic “Celebrations” will promote a great end of another difficult school year for many.

Have a great half term all – stay safe!

School reopens on Monday 7th June 2021.

Term ends on Friday 16th July 2021.

This has been a very busy week in school - one like no other.  The children have been fantastic and many congratulations to all of those who received awards today.

The gifts of kindness across the school throughout this week have been phenomenal.  Well done to Miss Claire Morgans who had a VIP award in our whole school assembly.  Upon driving to school one morning, she came across an injured hedgehog at the side of the road - she picked it up and warmed it with her car heater.  After a visit to the  vet - it fully recovered.  Well done to her.

Good news re lessening Covid restrictions in Foundation Phase classrooms!

Please remember INSET Closure Days on Thursday 27th and Friday 28th of next week.

    Have a good weekend all.

I hope that all our families are keeping well and that those who celebrated Eid have been able to have a great family celebration  together. I am sure that the last year has made everyone appreciate their loved ones even more. In the same way, it is apparent that the children appreciate school more than ever. Covid restriction has prevented many things at school that we love so much - whole school assemblies, great sing a longs, regular events with parents in school, school trips and especially our older and younger children spending time together  - caring and sharing. Like other schools and settings we have all adapted, glad to be together at school, yet the change is significant and all are to be congratulated.

From next week on, we feel that we have to lessen some restriction around our home school communication books as we cannot lose out on opportunities for our children to read or for communication to be missed. As a consequence, we request that diaries and reading books are returned regularly to school .

Congratulations to everyone who has received an award today in our whole school assembly, particularly those who have shown acts of kindness   - well done all.

    Have a great weekend.

I hope that you all had a good Bank Holiday last weekend.

This week has been exciting in school as the children enjoy more and more time outdoors and are thoroughly engaged in their learning.

It was, as ever, fantastic to see them all during our whole school assembly this afternoon and to learn about the efforts of so many !

You will have received a letter from me today, via text, which informs you of my intention to take early retirement from the end of this academic year. I have been at the school now for some considerable time and as deeply saddened as I am at the thought of leaving it, I do feel that it is the right time for the school to be led by a new figure and for me personally to embark in a new journey. I will, of course miss the children considerably.

The Governors will be appointing a new Headteacher in the coming weeks and will inform you of the outcome.

    Have a good weekend all.

A big thanks to all the children at school this week for such a good week at school.  There has been a buzz of happy engagement throughout the school.

As we approach a Bank Holiday weekend, it is a time to congratulate all on a safe and successful return to school this half term so far.  We are far from what normal once was was in our school setting, yet have workable, safe conditions allowing a "new" normal for now and the children have been fantastic!  I also thank parents and carers for being so respectful when on school site, as a staff team, we really appreciate this.

We shall have a busy half term after the weekend break, please all make the most of the long weekend.

    Stay safe

    Dear All,

we have all enjoyed the beautiful weather this week, allowing plenty of outdoor learning time. Again, throughout our school , our children have engaged brilliantly with their learning - in various year groups, they have been learning about Dinosaurs, Celts, Romans, Ancient Egyptians.... and so much more.

Congratulations to all those young people who have received  Headteachers Awards today - you have been great this week and there are so many hundreds of others who have also done fantastically well. A theme running through  our whole school assembly today has been one of kindness. We have so many examples of children and staff who have shared kindness throughout the past few days. Well done to Haydn in particular.

Have a lovely weekend everyone, enjoy the glorious weather ! Stay Safe!

It has been the start of a new term and the children in all classes have returned to school ready to learn.  We hope that the term works well for all and that we can have a sustained period at school for all classes.  This term is a longer term and we have much work planned for our learners.  We respectfully ask everyone to be diligent around Covid regulations and guidance in order for us all to keep safe and well.

As the term progresses, we hope for a greater "normality" around school life, certainly, we shall be able to spend more time outdoors.  I am grateful to staff who have offered their own free time to enhance our outdoor Learning areas.

We have unfortunately experienced some damage on school site outside school hours and as a school, we urge our local residents to please support us by informing school/police of any trespassers.

The weather hopefully remains fine for this weekend, so please safely enjoy your time together as a family.

    Fri 26 Mar 2021 Mrs. D. Davies

We have reached the end of the Spring Term which has been a very different type of term, one like no other.  We started the term with just keyworker children on site and most children working at home.  After half term, our Foundation Phase joined us and during the past couple of weeks we have seen a full return.

I think that it is true to say that the last few months have been challenging for everyone and I do so hope that we are able to work through next term without too much disruption.  Everyone has learnt so many new skills and ways of working and should feel proud of their efforts.

With travel restrictions lifted across Wales for travel just within Wales, I hope that this gives many of our families a greater opportunity to meet up safely with loved ones over the holiday period.

Please have a well deserved good break - enjoy the children - they have been fantastic on return to school.

    Stay safe everyone.

What a great week - we have all our children back at school and it has been a delight to see them.  Key Stage 2 have settled so well - it is as though they have never been away.  Congratulations to all of them!

It has been so good to hold our virtual whole school assembly today and to see all the classes together on a screen - one step closer to being back as a school family.

We do have a vacancy for a school parent Governor, so if any parent would like to find out more - please contact the school.

Thank you for your kind messages of support for staff this week.

    Have a good weekend all.
