At Prendergast School, we take all aspects of your child's safety and wellbeing extremely seriously. As a school, we wish to ensure that all children have access to the very best opportunities to access the digital world, and to learn the skills they will need to be fully competent digital citizens. We expect the children to be safe, to know how to stay safe, and how to behave appropriately online.
All children will encounter the SMART rules for staying safe online. They will learn how to be a responsible digital citizen and learn what it takes to behave appropriately in the online world. More information and child friendly activities can be found here.
We use the Internet as a learning tool seamlessly and we take the children's safety seriously. We follow the Local Authority's robust E-safety policies. We have our own CEOP trainer who is responsible for training staff and children in how to staff safe online. Children will receive age appropriate lessons from Thinkuknow.
We are fully engaged, as a school, with 360 degree Safe Cymru.
Your child will receive additional guidance and information about Cyber Bullying and Staying Safe Online through our visits from Dyfed Powys Police. There are also workshops in Year 6 at Crucial Crew.
An excellent source of information about E-safety for parents is at the SWgfl website. We believe it is vital that parents take an active role in helping us equip the children to stay safe online. You can find guides for securing common social media applications at this website.
