Year 3

KAPOW!

Year 3 celebrated the end of our 'Kapow' topic with a glamorous Oscars ceremony. Following the creation of their superhero films, children voted for their favourite actor, actress and film along with awards chosen by the academy.

Well done to everyone for making such fantastic films and for making our Oscars ceremony so special!

Superhero Day!

Today in Year 3, we all came to school dressed up as our favourite hero - this could have been an imaginary or real-life hero.

We designed our own superhero base which we will build from recycled materials.

We were also very lucky to have some real-life heroes join us to tell us all about their important jobs in the army and the fire service. Year 3 really enjoyed trying on the uniforms and even getting to fire the hose of the fire engine!

Have you seen the Kids’ Zone? Play games and visit some cool websites. You can vote for your favourites.

3PJ were really lucky today to have Jennifer bring in ingredients to make Vietnamese spring rolls. Her mum and dad gathered the ingredients and made some spring rolls for us. Jennifer the did a demonstration of how to make a spring roll and we all had a go. We cooked them and tasted them - they were delicious!

We had a visit in assembly today from representatives from the Catrin Vaughan Foundation. They came to present Elen with an iPad and case to support her with her learning. Elen has an eye condition and has found the use of the iPad really helpful in developing her independence. Thank you to the Catrin Vaughan Foundation for this extremely kind gift.

Here is Elen with her mum, the trustees of the Catrin Vaughan Foundation and Mrs Davies.

This week we have been learning all about WW1. We went for a visit to the memorial plaque in Withybush hospital. We have enjoyed writing speeches, making poppies and creating collaborative poppy art. Have a look at our pictures.

This week we have been learning how to write instructions. We had a go following instructions in our independent learning time and we made ice cream cones.

We have been learning about money in Maths and about where our food comes from in topic. We are really looking forward to designing a snack in the coming weeks using British produce. We have been trying beetroot, oats, beef and milk...yum!

Friday 5th October

This week we have been busy! In our outdoor learning we have been learning all about hedgehogs. This week we made hedgehogs using clay and materials we found outside to create the spikes.

We have been cooking! We made Glamorgan sausages, potatoes and carrots.

Friday 14th September

We have had a great week in Year 3. We went on an exciting journey on Mucky Monday exploring our schools outdoor areas. We have started our science topic looking at the body. We started by looking at the organs in the body and where they are. We had a surprise at how many organs are in our bodies! We drew around each other and drew where we thought they were.

In Welsh we started talking about different houses people live in. Dw'in byw ar y fferm!

Everyone is looking forward to the homework task this week and our first spelling test on Monday.

Have a great weekend.
