  • Mrs D Davies Summer Term 5

    Fri 26 May 2017 Mrs D Davies

The weather has been great this week allowing our children time to enjoy the sunshine, especially our Year 6 boys and girls who spent four days at Celtic Camping . The children were amazing, our school staff and Camping staff couldn't praise them enough for their excellent behaviour and complete willingness to try new activities such as Coasteering, Rafting Building,  Climbing. Back at school base, it was so good to hear the stories of children and staff being stretched to different levels as well as see the photos of the after effects of Mud Running !!! A big thank you to all the staff who accompanied the children and had such fun with them.

The end of half term has approached us with Value Tokens treats across the school - healthy picnics, fishy craft, volcano muffins, Gruffalo Day etc... and children enjoying these activities with smiling faces.

It has been a short half term, yet so much has been achieved  -many congratulations to all and big thanks to parents and carers for your support.

Have a great half term everyone   - next half term we look forward to our Estyn Inspection -please remember to complete your on line questionnaire by 9th June.

Lots of good things have happened in school throughout this week.

Year 5 enjoyed the Bug Farm visited linked to their Beast Creator topic  , everyone was congratulated for excellent behaviour and many for  showing such courage when feeling a little nervous upon holding creepy crawlies - Declan had a special Caught Moment for holding the stick insects!

Year 3 have been out and about searching for rocks this week, Dilan was mentioned in assembly for his super engagement and participation linked to the Rock Spotting, everyone enjoyed the activity.

One of our Mums came to see me earlier in the week to show the great work that her very little girl had completed over the weekend - a four year old writing 3 digit Maths stories based on her understanding of the Maths program -fantastic! So many of our children achieve so many great things - please share with us if you have such good news.

Well done to Dan and Lloyd who took part in the Llanelli Duathalon - what a great success story.

We wish our Year 6 boys and girls all the very best as they prepare for Celtic Camping next week.

    Have a good weekend everyone.

  • Mrs Davies's Blog Summer Term 3

    Fri 12 May 2017 Mrs D Davies

Another quick week has passed and the children have enjoyed some great activities out and about with more to follow over the next couple of weeks.

It has been a great pleasure to see so many of our very youngest Nursery children discovering the Prendergast area because Miss Parry has lost her map and can't find where things are !!

Our Year 3 classes were treated to a session about Rocks, led by Mr Moses, our National Parks Warden and plan to find out more when working off school site next week.

One of the highlights of the week has been the final Splish Splosh session which was a visit to Puffin Produce . Our children love spending time at this local business and not because they learn so much and return to school wearing blue hair nets and carrying bags of potatoes but they always have a good time and are made welcome. We cannot thank Puffin Produce (or Potato Land  as our children call it) enough!

I am sure that you will all want to wish the Sadler family good luck as they leave for America next week in order for Megan to have her spinal operation. We shall be thinking of you Meg!

Dinner times have continued to change as this week our Year 5 and  6 children have eaten their meals in an area on their own, which has given them a really special dining experience. Today, a  number of children trialled the packed lunch option which was on offer.

Reminder  - Walk to School Week next week - have a great weekend.
