  • Autumn Term 2018 Week 11

    Fri 23 Nov 2018 Mrs D Davies

Our Year 5 children have had a great few days at Cardiff.  They have enjoyed watching "Wicked", bowling, Techniquest, speed boating, visiting the Royal Mint etc and their behaviour and appreciation were super - well done children and thank you to those members of staff who led the visit, Mr. Clarke, Mrs. Edwards, Mrs Buxton and Miss Harries.  I am sure that this is an experience that the children will never forget.

Our Year 6 children visited the Innovation Centre on Wednesday in order to participate in Science/STEM activities and the childrens' responses were super, they really did enjoy the experience.

Our URDD football team took part in the Pembrokeshire tournament at Caer Elin on Wednesday and played really well securing sixth position.  Well done boys, the competition was excellent.

Yesterday, Miss Harte, our Literacy Leader, led two workshops for parents of Early Years children - "Get Ready to Read" - the workshops were very well attended and it was a delight to see how many attended and the lovely atmosphere that was generated.  Thank you everyone.

The children were given questionnaires for you to complete with your child this week, if you have not already done so, please complete and send into school.

Our Christmas calendar will be sent home in the next couple of days, ahead of major events, in order for you to plan your visits to school.

    Have a good weekend everyone!

  • Autumn Term 2018 - Week 10

    Fri 16 Nov 2018 Mrs D Davies

There are many things to celebrate at our school this week.

On Monday evening our Project Peace Work was launched at Space to Create.  This project has been a collaborative art venture between some of our Forces children and clients (best friends) at Meadow Park Day Centre.  The  project has been ongoing for several weeks culminating  in eight spectacular pieces of Art focused upon Peace.  The children worked alongside Meadow Park clients to produce the work, looking at archived photos/artefacts.  The ages ranged from 7 - 96!

We hope that, within the next few weeks, the work will be showcased at school.  There is a link if you wish to view the accompanying film (which will also be showcased in the foyer at school).

Congratulations to our girls football team who attended Milford Haven Secondary Astro on Wednesday.  All played hard, they came fourth in their group!

The children arrived at school today, ready for Children in Need.  At the time of writing we are still counting our donations.  Well done everyone!

As the weekend approaches, we feel the excitement with our Year 5 learners - nearly all of them are eagerly awaiting their residential trip to The Urdd Centre.

  • Autumn Term 2018. Week 9

    Fri 09 Nov 2018 Mrs D Davies

It has been such a quick week at school. The INSET day on Monday meant that we needed to absorb five days into four - and the children have been a credit to us all.

Throughout the week and throughout the school, there has been a focus upon WW1 100 years Remembrance. We have seen some fantastic work emerging, culminating today in Year 5 leading an exceptionally emotive service. When our school hall is filled with all our children and silence - it is always a remarkable experience and one which makes us feel so proud to be part of such a great school family.

Thank you Year 5, Mrs Edwards, Miss Williams, Mrs Buxton and Mrs Raymond for preparing these wonderful children so well in order for them to lead with such confidence.

A group of our children have been working on Project Peace with local artist, Pip Lewis and some of our best friends from the Day Centre - this work will be displayed at Space to Create, next Monday at 6.00pm. We hope that all members in our community will have he opportunity to see this work - if not on Monday, then later in the term when the work is displayed at school.

In my blog, written on Week 6 this term , I informed you about Mrs Picton Jones attending an awards gala and visiting the Prime Minister in recognition of her truly amazing work as founder of The DPJ Foundation. I am sure that may of you will now know that Mrs Picton Jones has won a Pride of Britain Award for her outstanding work, televised earlier this week.

I referred to her earlier in the week with staff as the Pride of Prendergast. We cannot emphasise as to how much she is a great inspiration to others - her energy, commitment and determination to support those with mental health issues  in rural communities, whilst being a Mum to her two young children and a full time teacher is to be applauded !! Well Done Mrs Picton Jones - we are all proud of you !!!

Thank you to all the families who have supported us on entry and exit with the adverse weather this week. We aim to keep our children as safe as possible.

    Have a good a good weekend !
