  • Mrs D Davies Spring Term 11

    Thu 29 Mar 2018 Mrs D Davies

What a busy term it has been and yet it has passed so quickly. We have had so many highlights throughout the past couple of months - I can only say well done everyone!

The end of term has been a little sad as  Mrs Dunlop has left us for early retirement and Mr Golding is leaving us to begin a new family business in his local community. Both members of staff will be greatly missed - they have contributed so much to our school over the years  (Mrs Dunlop has been at the school for 15 years). We cannot thank them enough and realise that they will be impossible to replace.

For next term, Miss P Parry will be Acting Headteacher, Miss R Harte will be Acting Assistant Headteacher and Mrs K Reynolds will take on an additional senior leadership role at school with a focus upon attendance. In September, Mr J Voros will join the staff as Deputy Headteacher.

I sincerely thank all parents and carers for their ongoing support this term and wish you all a great break with your families over the next couple of weeks.

The children will bring home our half termly newsletter today.

  • Mrs Davies's Blog Spring Terrn Week 10

Fri 23 Mar 2018 Mrs Davies

What a great end to the week!  Friday finished with Sport Relief (thank you to all those who took part and raised money).

Our Rugby team participated in the Urdd National Finals at Dunvant RFC today - at the time of writing , they are returning with the Alan Griffiths trophy after winning all their games - fantastic !!!

Nearly all our Year 4 children took part in  the residential trip at Llangrannog this week - swimming, archery, skiing, toboganning, karting, bingo, disco or film, horse riding, cliff walking, high ropes, quads, orienteering etc!!......... It is always great to hear the stories throughout the week and upon return.  There was a smile yesterday morning when Miss Harte texted to say that two rooms, were up and showered by 3:30 am!!  What enthusiasm!   I daresay, there will be some tired children this weekend.

Thank you and well done to Year 3 who led our Easter assembly this morning, it was good to see so many families with us.  Likewise, our family Easter Craft afternoon was so very well attended.  It is always great to see our families working together in such a close way at school.                                         .

As the final week of term approaches, we remind you that school breaks up for Easter on Thursday of next week and  re-opens on Tuesday 18th April.

    Have a good weekend!

  • Mrs Davies's Blog Spring Term Week 9

    Fri 16 Mar 2018 Mrs D Davies

,The term is rapidly drawing to a close.  There have been many exciting events at school throughout this week.

Class 3PJ enjoyed their River Trip, following the source of the Cleddau, a trip that had been postponed due to the severe weather a couple of weeks ago.  Upon their return, the children created a five metre river  as part of their Outdoor Learning - there were many skills incorporated into this activity and we all saw the humour when some of our very youngest children thought that it was a waterslide!

Year 5 classes visited St. Mary's Church yesterday to enjoy "The Easter Story" - the children returned to school having had a fantastic time - some of the photographic evidence was superb!

We are delighted to inform you that Caden Fox has been asked to join the Swansea City Football Academy for Under 9's for the 2018/19 season.

Well done to all our Cross Country participants who ran so well at Carmarthen Showground last night, we are so proud of you, Ollie Thompson finished 10th in the Year 4 boys race and our Year 5 boys and Year 6 girls team were placed 3rd in the team event.

Next week will be another busy week at school - our Year 3 children will be spending time at the V C Gallery and nearly all Year 4 children will leave us on Wednesday for their residential trip to Llangrannog.

    Have a good weekend everyone!

  • Mrs Davies's Blog Spring Term 8

    Fri 09 Mar 2018 Mrs D Davies

We have managed to catch up with our lost "snow days" from last week and have finished the week with our Eisteddfod  and World Book Day. It was great to come into school today and see children and staff dressed as favourite characters - they looked delightful. Our Shrek and Princess Fiona duo in the Nursery looked great and took best staff prize!!!

Many thanks to all those children who took part in our St Davids' Day competitions and also in  our World Book Day events.

We have had some very worthwhile days out this week. At the beginning of the week Year 5 visited Pembroke Castle and our Year 2 children had a great time at Carew Castle .

Governors interviewed candidates for the post of Deputy Headteacher this week and were blessed with the quality of the candidates. After a rigorous selection process, Mr James Voros (Headteacher at Coastlands C.P. and who is known to many of you ) secured the post.

We look forward to working with him.

Thank you 5W for a great assembly this morning , reminding us about Fair Trade issues - we all enjoyed listening to your messages.

    Have a good weekend everyone!

  • NORMAL RETURN TO SCHOOL ON MONDAY

    Sun 04 Mar 2018 Mrs D Davies

After the severe weather cut short our school week last week , postponing all our planned St Davids events, we expect a normal return this week. I would like to thank everyone for working so well with the school, all children were off site safely just after 1.00pm and staff members were able to travel home soon after. We shall endeavour to enjoy our planned events at some point this week whist we also appoint a new Deputy Headteacher for our school.

    Thank you All.
