The end of the week has arrived so quickly today. It seems a very short time since we had our walk to school day at the beginning of the week. Thank you to everyone who took part. dodging the showers!! It is something that we would urge our parents to do  - the children certainly enjoyed themselves. Unfortunately, the weather this week didn't stay kind enough for our Year One children to access their Scolton Manor visit.

A highlight of the week has to be the Swimming Squad's achievements at the Urdd Gala, with representation on to the Finals in Cardiff on 20th January, particular congratulations to Ben and Amy. We all realise the hard work and dedication offered by the Squad and the many lost hours of leisure time devoted to their sport... well done  to the parents also!!!

The Netball Team performed very well at St Davids today - well done!!

Thank you also to 4L who led our Community assembly today with a focus on International Children's Day, what super messages you shared with all of us.

Reminder , author Nicola Davies will be with us on Monday - we hope to see some parents after school. Enjoy the weekend.

This week has been all about Science and what a great week it has been!

Throughout the week, all classes have engaged in various Science investigations and many parents and grandparents have joined us for open sessions and after school Science shows.

The week ended today with Techniquest working with our oldest children - Bright Sparks and The Body Inside Out and our Reception children visiting the Owl Secret Garden at Picton Castle.

The Explorer Dome was at school on Wednesday and our Year 2 classes were working with Bubbles whilst Year 5 found out more about States of Matter!

I am sure that our Key Stage Two children will talk to their parents about their investigations -

Year 3 - Does it Disapppear?

Year4 - Does it Pass Through?

    Year 5  - Pump It!

Year 6 -Why do Penguins Huddle?

You may wish to have a go at home!!

A great day today for Children in Need ....fun with Pudsey !! In total, we have raised over £535  - well done everyone!!!

    Have a great weekend.

  • Mrs Davies's Blog Autumn Term Week 9

    Fri 10 Nov 2017 Mrs D Davies

Children and staff returned from the half term holidays ready for the seven weeks ahead leading into Christmas  -  we have much to look forward to.

We have had a busy week again  - our Book Fair has been available to all after school throughout the week.

Together, we prepared 57 shoeboxes with Christmas  gifts for children who are struggling with poverty in countries other than ours, generous donations from parents and staff have been deeply appreciated.

Our  Year 6 children attended Crucial Crew yesterday  - again, a super experience for them , led by a wealth of specialist practitioners who gave relevant information as to how our children can help themselves to keep safe.

We were fortunate to have Kath Duffy, our school nurse with us yesterday at our ALN Drop In clinic and she hopes to make this a regular event. I would remind all parents and carers that our drop in clinics remain popular and are there for your service, please feel free to use them.

The highlight of our week has been our Remembrance Service earlier today which was led by our Year 5 children, we were all treated with some fabulous images and words put together by the children themselves. Adults who were present, I am sure, couldn't help but be moved by the presentation and also the marvellous manner in which all children in the hall showed their utmost respect for the occasion. A big thank you to all our families who attended and also our Servicemen and "best friends " from the Day Centre.

Next week, we look forward to Science week at school with events running throughout the day every day  - we have Techniquest, Darwin Science, Making Bubble workshops, investigations etc all running throughout the week and we hope to see parents during the year group open sessions.

Have a good weekend everyone and Happy Birthday Poppy for tomorrow - 92 years young, from all the staff and children at Prendergast C.P. School.
