What a long an busy term it has been, now that the end has approached, I think it is time for everyone to take a well deserved rest and spend some time with family.

This time of year is always a special time at school and it has been a joy to see the excitement with our children today. They have clearly had a good week, following on from last Friday's Sparkle Day and Christmas dinner, we still can't believe that our kitchen staff served hundreds upon hundreds of Christmas dinners, cooked for the Day Centre and yet still provided the Meals on Wheels service  - all with a smile on their faces, saying how magical the experience was. They are Stars and a credit to PCC.

This week started well with the production of "Our First Nativity" performed by our youngest children in the Nursery, followed by Ralph the Reindeer, led by our Foundation Phase children. Both performances were delightful - thank you boys and girls- and thank you also to our very many parents and grandparents who joined us and spoke so kindly regarding the children's contributions.

The week continued with parties, discos and a visit from the Man in Red himself. The highlight of the week for me personally had to be seeing the faces of our Nursery boys and girls yesterday as they experienced The Elf Express, spending quality time with Santa, singing and dancing with him, Mrs Claus, Mr Sparkle Pants and Candy the Elf - it was truly spectacular!

I would like to thank all our parents for what has been a very productive term and wish you all ,on behalf of children, staff and Governors  - a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Enjoy your family time together over the holidays and we look forward to working with you in 2018.

This week has passed so quickly and the end of term is clearly in sight. We have continued with all learning in classes but as the week draws to an end, the Christmas spirit is taking over!

Children in classes Reception to Year 6 enjoyed the Torch Theatre production on Wednesday and returned to school full of smiles. It has been an annual concern with our staff that they are fearful who will be chosen to be shamed by the Dame - children and staff alike have a good time!

Whilst the children were at The Torch Theatre, our Playgroup enjoyed their Christmas party, fun and games with a visit from the Man in Red !!

Throughout the week we have all heard rehearsals under way for next week's performance of Ralph the Reindeer and hope that many parents and Grandparents will join us next week for this production and our Nursery Nativity.

Thursday's Bingo proved to be very successful, thanks to all who attended and Sparkle Day and Christmas dinner was nothing short of magical - well done all !!

Next week, we shall enjoy productions, parties, special visitors, a Nursery trip to the Elf Express, discos etc... Another busy week !!!

    Have a good weekend !

What a great week we have had in school - we have been so busy!!  Many classes have been out and about , making the most of the local area.

Both of our Year 4 classes enjoyed a visit to Withyhedge, supplementing their topic work whilst Year One visited Scolton Manor - this trip had been previously postponed due to inclement weather, it was fortunate that it could be rearranged prior to the end of term in order for our children to transfer that which they had learned into their classroom activities.

On Thursday, Year 2 visited St Mary's Church to take part in the Nativity activities, a visit which has become part of our annual cycle of events and much enjoyed by the children.

3PJ gave some very serious messages to all in assembly this morning, messages which were clearly written by the children themselves and described by staff as "fantastic" - well done and thank you 3PJ!!

The day continued well with our instrumentalists playing for families during our Music Afternoon, followed by coffee and mincepies.

And so the festive season begins........ next week  -Torch Theatre and Sparkle Day with Christmas dinner and rehearsals for our Foundation Phase children in readiness for their productions on the final week!!!!

Have a good weekend everyone !!!

The week started with non fiction author Nicola Davies joining us for a day of exciting workshops with a great family event after school. We thank you Nicola for such a great day and also for your kind comments about our children - they really enjoyed the day.

Our Nurture Group enjoyed a session at STP on Tuesday and John Stacey from Amnesty International worked with Years 3-5 - all with very positive results.

Throughout the week , we have had visitors supporting our monitoring sessions and our Governors were very impressed with the quality of work and engagement demonstrated by all learners.

Next week will be another busy week with visits for Year 4 and Year1 , ending on Friday with our celebratory Music Afternoon and an opportunity for parents and grandparents  to join us for coffee and a mince pie.

Have a good weekend everyone !
