  • Mrs. Davies's Blog Spring Term Week 7

Fri 28 Feb 2020 Mrs. Davies

Thank you to all of those families/children who worked so hard over half term to produce such fantastic Welsh dragons.  It has been a delight to see them together in the hall throughout the week and for families to join us at the end of the week to join in this celebration of Welshness.

Thursday afternoon, without doubt, was a highlight as the school enjoyed its Eisteddfod.  The  afternoon was full of song, dance, poetry and fun and the children looked fantastic.

Indeed, Welsh week at school has been a great success.

Earlier in the week I sent home a letter providing parents/carers and families with more information about Coronavirus.  As like other schools, our school had some requests for more information and I hope that the information on the link provided (Public Health Wales) was useful to all.

We shall continue to send home any information that we feel is of relevance to you.

Next week will be another busy week with our Yr 4 children starting the day early on Monday, leaving for their Caerleon Roman experience by 7:30 am.

    Have a good weekend everyone!

Fri 14 Feb 2020 Mrs. Davies

It has been a busy half term, yet passed so quickly, strangely we have already been booking events for next Christmas!

The week has ended with a Dinosaur exhibition, Valentines Discos and a range of rewards and treats for every class.

Throughout this term, we have seen many visitors at our school and have spent time in all classrooms.  The children really need to be congratulated for their super effort and levels of engagement throughout this half term.  Well done to all of those children who have had successes both inside and outside of school, from Headteacher's Awards to Urdd swimming success and County Rugby achievement.

Today, we celebrated attendance success - some children (60) have been in school every day since September and have received a Gold badge, 94 have been in school for two out of three half terms and 58 have been in school every day since Christmas - Well Done!

We return to school on Monday 24th February and we look forward  to St. David's Day celebrations and World Book Day on the first couple of weeks back. Have a great half term with your family  and happy Valentines Day.

  • Mrs. Davies's Blog Spring Term Week 5

    Fri 07 Feb 2020

We ended this week with an assembly led by 5E.  The children shared their great poetry - using their senses to describe great cities around the world.

We all had a chuckle as well as the chance to learn some great Roman facts when the school watched Mr. Hill and Mr. Layzell present their very own episode of Horrible Histories.  The film had been used as a lesson stimulus at the start of the week and had motivated the children greatly.

Our Year Three children this week have been finding out about all things Welsh and enjoyed making their own Welsh cakes, practising their weighing and measuring skills.

Year One learners are concerned  about the horses that have been left in the field next to the school.  Throughout the week, staff have provided water for the animals and the children are concerned about the most recent notice and the fact that the horses may just be removed!!

We have had Parent's Evenings throughout the week and have seen most of our parents which has been a pleasure - so many great things to report.

    Have a good weekend.
