  • Mrs Davies' Blog Summer Term Week 4

    Fri 24 May 2019 Mrs D Davies

We have had a super week at school.  It has gone so quickly.  Everyday, we have heard how our Year 6 children at Celtic Camping have excelled with their determination to succeed,  They will hopefully remember these experiences for life (as will the teachers).  They have been rafting, orienteering, coasteering, mud running and so much more.  Mr Clarke has described the experience as "awesome", he is so proud of the children - well done and thank you all.  Many thanks also to those few Year 6 children who stayed at school and set up "Caffi Enfys".

Our Family Learning workshop was well attended this week, led by Miss Edwards and Miss Phillips - parents and governors seemed to enjoy finding out more about a Growth Mindset and how this can help their children thrive with a positive mindset.

Mrs K. Reynolds spoke at the Armed Forces conference in Carmarthen and you may have seen our school featured on the BBC News on Thursday.

The week has ended with an assembly led by 2P - there were some super messages shared around "caring" - a big well done to 2P.  Thank you.

This afternoon we practised our safety drills with our younger children - we are so proud of the manner in which they listened to staff - Well Done.

We hope to open our "café" next half term, keep an eye out for times.

Thank you all for your support this half term.  Our best times at school are always when our parents join us.

  • Mrs Davies' blog Summer Term week 3

    Fri 17 May 2019 Mrs D Davies

What a fabulous week we have had at school this week.  Mr Clarke referred to yesterday at school, as 'magical'.  There have been so many exciting things happening.

For a long time, we have always hoped that we could have a 'cafe' facility here at school (the dream would be for 'all day drop in' for parents).  We would love for the children to manage it themselves and our parents/grandparents use it for relaxing, mixing with professionals, training etc...  We will be forever grateful to Haven Church who last week offered us their café resources.  This equipment arrived in school on Wednesday and was 'trialled' yesterday with our parents/grandparents of Year 5 and Year 6 during an open afternoon.  We want to do so much more of this.

It was a joy to see so many parents join Year 5 for the Genius Hour presentations and also parents/grandparents of Year 6 who were wonderful at our Year 6 Art Exhibition, the children were so proud to sell their exhibits (staff  members were moved to tears).

Today at school, to finish the week we enjoyed a Family Learning Reading Café event with Year 1 parents and a Musical Afternoon led by our talented musicians and peri staff.

This week has been a delight.  For many children, of course, the highlight has been the school discos, particularly our younger children.

Next week we look forward to Year 6 at Celtic Camping, and 2P leading our community assembly.

Thank you everyone for a great week .

    Have a good weekend everyone!

  • Tegan's Design Sees a Terrific Start to Transition in Year 7

Wed 15 May 2019 Mr Voros

We were delighted to find out as a school a little while ago that Tegan in Year 6 had designed the winning logo for Year 6's transition project, which culminates in a Sustainability Summit at the end of the summer term. We were delighted by the efforts made by all learners, and can now share this logo with you.

The work, undertaken with the Humanities department, will allow our children to develop as Ethical Informed Citizens, developing their knowledge about sustainability and our place in supporting this. It also provides a chance to get to know other children who will be in Year 7 with them and to get to know staff at Haverfordwest High.

  • Mrs D Davies Blog Summer Term . Week 2

    Fri 10 May 2019 Mrs D Davies

We have had a good end to a good week. Albeit, just four days long, the children have achieved so much and a big well done to all Year 2-6 classes for such huge efforts in completing the National Tests in such a positive manner.

Today, once more , in our whole school assembly, we congratulated groups of children for giving up their weekends to participate in Sports competitions and charity events. We are so proud of their successes.

Thank you to the parents who attended today's Outdoor Learning workshop with Mr Jenkins, we hope that some of you are available to support us with our further development in this area .

We have another busy week planned for next week, the highlight for most of the children , of course, will be the school discos next Thursday!! Please don't forget Year One families - Reading Café, next Friday - all invited.

    Have a good weekend.

  • Mrs Davies's Blog. Summer Term Week 1

    Fri 03 May 2019 Mrs D Davies

How quickly this week has flown passed! The children returned from the Easter holidays, refreshed and ready for the new term.

Throughout the week, we have seen classes prepare for their new topic, for example, yesterday, our Year one classes launched their "Lights, Camera, Action topic in The Torch Theatre . They found out how the theatre works, investigating all of the different areas of the theatre - their excitement upon return was infectious.

Next week, we shall begin the National Tests in Years 2-6 and this will just be one indicator of how well our children have progressed this school year. All " activities" will be in classrooms as they would normally be on every other day and we certainly wouldn't want our children to worry in any way.

This half term's Family Learning programme has gone home to parents again today. Please have a careful look at it and if something interests you, please join us . Mr Clarke is still looking for volunteers to plant trees next week!

Have a great bank holiday weekend everyone, rest and enjoy family time!!
