  • Mrs Davies's Blog Spring Term 2018

    Fri 26 Jan 2018 Mrs D Davies

Despite the weather adversely affecting some of our planned outdoor activities this week , it has been a pleasure to go into classes and see such super learning taking place.

On Monday, some of our youngest  children showed off their culinary skills making porridge for Goldilocks, they had to first program their way to the Bears' cottage using Beebot and draw a map showing the best route. In Year One this week our children have been washing "dirty" underpants, making asteroid mobiles ( chosen by the children ), creating symmetrical pants and writing about the planets !! Their knowledge is fantastic !

Year Two children have been busy writing a script for the performance of Rapunzel, the original having been accidently shredded !They measured Rapunzel's golden locks and built castles.

We must congratulate our Swimming Squad who performed so well at last Saturday's Urdd gala. Well done Amy, Ben, James, Max and Josh - the boys receiving a Silver medal for their relay and Amy receiving two bronze medals. What an achievement  - we are so proud of you!

Have a good weekend everyone !!!

  • Mrs Davies's Blog Spring Term 2

    Fri 19 Jan 2018 Mrs D Davies

The end of Week 2 has already arrived and we are hearing so many positives about the term so far, particularly how well our children have settled into their new topics.

The Spring Term is always busy for us here at Prendergast, it is a time when we undertake our annual Learning and Teaching Review - always a busy, yet productive experience.

We appreciate colleagues from Action for Children joining some of our older classes earlier this week. They spoke about the role of Young Carers in the Community and how we can all support this role. There were many challenging questions posed and clearly our children learned much from the experience.

Squash Wales worked with our Year 4 children and all feedback was really positive.

Mrs Jane Harries, Headteacher of Haverfordwest High VC  School offered the opportunity for the parents of our Year 6 children to meet with her yesterday evening regarding the new arrangements for September's  Year 7. We welcome her to our professional community.

Thank you and well done 3R for leading this week's Community Assembly and offering such important messages to the whole school. We look forward to hearing about Year 3's experiences at Scolton Manor earlier today.

Good Luck to our Urdd swimmers who represent our school and County this weekend in Cardiff.

Have a good weekend everyone !

    Fri 12 Jan 2018 Mrs D Davies

    Happy New Year everyone!

The children have returned to school in really good spirits , keen to work and engage in their new topics after a good holiday.

A particular mention to all our newbies this week, particularly our big boys and girls in the Nursery - 28 of which have moved from part time to full time -they have been fantastic, especially at lunchtimes managing the big hall in such a grown up way .We are so proud of them. Well done also to our 20 part timers who have joined us in the afternoons, what a great start.

A note to all our parents of Year 6 children, the new Headteacher of Haverfordwest High VC Secondary School will meet with parents of Y6

    next Thursday 18th at STP.

    Have a good weekend everyone!
