  • Mrs Davies's Blog Spring Term Week 11

    Thu 28 Mar 2019 Mrs D dAVIES

Our many planned activities for this week have been far more enjoyable due to the fantastic weather. One of our major highlights has been Year 4 spending the last three days at LLangrannog. It is wonderful to know that our children have accessed such great activities as well as having the opportunity to spend a couple of nights away from home with both their school friends and also new friends from other local schools.

I always eagerly await the texts that let me know how well the children are doing, especially those texts before bedtime and wake up in the morning - it is certainly a busy time for the staff who attend - I thank them for this.

Year 3 children were still talking about how much they enjoyed last Friday afternoon with their parents at school - the homework that we have received at school this week so far has been amazing. Families have been clearly working together on creating some superb Celt artefacts - thank you.

Year 2 had a great day at Carew Castle yesterday, the weather could not have been any better - they left and returned to school full of enthusiasm. The children ( as we all are) look forward to their Medieval Banquet with invited family members on 11th April.

The week has ended with 5W leading the community assembly. There was a focus upon Health and Wellbeing and the children making a promise as to how they would improve their physical, emotional or mental wellbeing. It was the perfect time for Enterprising Ella, Ethical Ewan, Ambitious Amber and Healthy Harri to join us, indeed Harri's influence led the theme of the assembly. Thank you 5W and our Learning Ambassadors, the latter of whom created our mascots.

I hope that you all enjoy the fine weather this weekend and to all our Mums, Nans and Carers - have a good Mother's Day.

  • Mrs. Davies's Blog. Spring Term Week 10

    Fri 22 Mar 2019 Mrs D Davies

Well they have finally arrived at Prendergast School - our four new curriculum leaders, created by the children themselves - Enterprising Ella, Ethical Ewan, Ambitious Amber and Healthy Harri !!! These are the characters that will help us to think carefully about planning the new curriculum, parents and carers may well see them over the next few weeks, in the school foyer and I am sure that the children will be talking about them . These characters represent the Four Core Purposes of the new curriculum which all schools in Wales are looking to address. At Prendergast, we are excited and eagerly working at how this can look for us. I am sure that the parents who attended last week's workshop and found out a little more about the new curriculum will have seen the characters in their draft format  - please call in to see the finished version !!

Great to see so many parents at school today - Welsh workshops and a successful Year 3 afternoon - well done all.

Year 4 trip to LLangrannog next week!!!!

    Have a good weekend everyone.

  • Mrs Davies's Blog. Spring Term Week 9

    Fri 15 Mar 2019 Mrs D Davies

What a good week we have had here at school , culminating in an assembly led by 3PJ. Thank you and well done. It was great to see so many visitors in school today. It was also fabulous to see so many children wearing something funny at the end of the week - Mrs Reynolds is still counting loose change contributions for Comic Relief !

Yesterday was a special day with children throughout the school dressed in pyjamas or as a story character and sharing so many special books. Well Done everyone.

Year 6 began their  transition programme with Haverfordwest High this week, spending time at the school and our Year 5 classes began Cycling Proficiency sessions - we wish them well.

We have had a few new families join us over the past couple of weeks and look forward to getting to know them better.

Mrs Reynolds led two parent workshops today, with a focus on independent learning at school with an aim to both inform parents and also to offer ideas for home. We shall continue to deliver such family workshops - next Friday, there will be two workshops on Welsh Second Language for any parent who wishes to attend.

For any parent who hasn't shared the on line safety link with their children, we urge you to do so, particularly if you have Infant ( Year 1 and 2 ) learners.

    Have a good weekend everyone.

  • Mrs Davies' Blog - Spring Term 2019 - Week 8

    Fri 08 Mar 2019 Mrs D Davies

The week has passed so quickly.  A big well done to all of those who have been awarded Headteacher's Awards, VIP/Reader/Writer of the Week and to all who have improved attendance, regardless of whether or not this has reached Bronze, Silver or Gold status.  So many attendance badges have been given out, our children wear them with pride (as do the staff) - many thanks to the parents who have given us kind messages around this - and also about our new App.

Mrs Gwilt led two workshops for parents today around the 'New Curriculum' - if you did come along to school, we hope that you found it useful, and if you were unable to attend, we hope that you will have the opportunity to do so at repeat events in the near future.

We always have concerns regarding Internet Safety and the latest interest on social media that grasps the attention of our younger children.  You may find the following CBBC link useful to support you with your child's safety around social media - we have been using it at school.
