We have reached the end of a very busy half term here at Prendergast C.P. with so many events taking place throughout the school. There have been so many highlights.

This week has certainly been one which we shall all remember and I would personally like to thank our parents for their support during  a time that has been quite difficult for all and extremely difficult for a few. We know that our large town school operates like a small family school with a genuine care and respect within the community and this ethos has been tangible throughout the week. Our thoughts are with one precious individual and one family in particular. It is a time to reflect upon all our children, how special and unique they are and to realise how every one of them is a gift to treasure.

Our children have the ability to brighten our lives and always give a focus in times of difficulty and school has continued with its busy schedule. There was a smile upon the faces of all here this morning when Y1 staff arrived in readiness for their Superheroes day. When you look at the photo, I  am sure that you cannot help but to sense the fun that the children have had in school as they conclude this half term's topic. We have seen parties, "sleepovers", film producing of the Rebecca Riots, Fairy Tale potions and picnics, just to mention a few experiences today!

Enjoy the half term break with your families and we shall see you on the 27th.

It has been good to see so many parents join us throughout this week in order to meet parents during Parent / Teacher Evenings or when joining in our Nearly Valentines Coffee Afternoon today.

We have had another week of celebrations here at Prendergast. Our Swimming Squad children are doing so well at the moment, they are collecting awards with every event they enter and so they have further congratulations for their performance at Tuesday's Sladen Swimming Gala. The boys squad secured 3rd position and our girls took back the winning swimming trophy. As a school we weren't just proud of their swimming talent, we were grateful for the comments shared by parents who attended regarding the exemplary behaviour shown by the children.

Similarly so, our team at The Rotary Disability Gymnastics on Tuesday performed superbly! Every child was a winner! Special thanks must go to the staff who both prepared and accompanied the children and to Mrs S Yelland for her great support as ever!

Attendance Panel met this week and I would like to thank everyone for making a huge effort with January's attendance - one of our best monthly attendance outcomes to date - 96.8% -Well Done Everyone!

    Have a good weekend.

Another quick and busy week for us at school.  Many of our boys and girls have been out and about representing our school through a range of activities.

On Monday our Year 6 Welsh Writing Squad further developed their skills at the Archives, alongside other Year 6 learners, whilst representatives from our School Council met with Local Authority staff to discuss the future English Medium Secondary provision.  Later that evening our After School Hanger Five group shared excellent Values and made Mrs E Reynolds very proud when they showed how fantastically Prendergast children present when they are out and about, demonstrating their gratitude for having such opportunities at school.

We must say a big well done to our Under 11's Football Squad who played so well at Tasker Milward School on Wednesday.  In a similar way to how Mrs Reynolds described our Hanger Five group, Mr Golding returned from the football tournament expressing how proud he was of the squad's behaviour and all were a credit to the school.

We have two teacher trainee Trinity students at school with us, we welcome Jasmine Thomas and Rebecca Parry.

The school has hosted Read, Write, Inc for practitioners across Pembrokeshire this week and today (Friday) we have our own termly Read, Write, Inc development day when Miss Rhianwen Ashford will spend time at school looking at our learning and supporting staff with training needs.

The focus for Family Friday this week has been "Welsh for the Terrified!".

We hope to see parents in school next week as you join teachers for the mid year Teacher/Parent Evenings.

    Enjoy the weekend.
