  • Summer Term Week 10

    Thu 28 Jun 2018 Mrs D Davies

It has been a very hot week at school and we have needed to modify some of our activities throughout the classes to ensure that the children keep cool. Thank you parents and carers for dressing and equipping the children so well for the weather.

Our Year 2 children this week enjoyed a visit to West Wales Estate Agents  - a follow up from their work in class. They were delighted to see that the shop window was dressed with all their work and that staff were available to answer so many questions - thank you to them and well done children. What a super experience!

Year 7 staff spent time with our Year 6 children this week, transition work is now well underway and we are preparing for the Cluster Year 6 " Sustainability Summit " to be held at Withybush on Monday.

Armed Forces Day was celebrated today and in addition to recognising the work of our great Servicemen and Women, the school sold wristbands, raising £320.

Children throughout the school will have received Annual Reports over the past two days. Test results will follow for those children in Year 2 to Year 6 when results are sent to school from Welsh Government.

    Have a good weekend everyone.

  • Summer Term Week 9

    Fri 22 Jun 2018 Mrs D Davies

What a brilliant week at school . There have been many highlights with the children and their learning, particularly from our Year 5 children who attended the STEM activities at Pembs College on Thursday.

The biggest highlight of the week has to be our Sports Day today             ( Friday) - the weather was perfect and our children, throughout the school, were absolutely fantastic. They were at their very best. Likewise, our families who watched on mass were equally great. What a wonderful experience.  It is times like this when I realise how lucky we are to be a part of this special school.

Thank you everyone    - parents, staff and of course children for such a memorable day.

    Have a good weekend.

  • Summer Term Week 8

    Fri 15 Jun 2018 Mrs D Davies

The week has past so quickly -  children have been busy finishing assessments and reviewing their learning for the year, whilst practising school sports and receiving visitors. Our Year 6 children have been working at their transition project as they prepare for Year 7.

A highlight this particular week has to be the success of our Cricket Team , who yesterday played at Fishguard, winning all four games and gaining entry into the Pembs finals on Monday of next week - well done boys!!

In addition, 1J led our community assembly this morning with a focus on a Right to an Opinion.

Next week will be another busy week at school when we welcome our parents to join us in some key events. On Monday evening at 6.00 pm, we host a Year 6 parents meeting with the new Headteacher of Haverfordwest High VC, Mrs Jane Harries and Senior Staff. Parents will have the opportunity to both meet staff and view uniform on display.

Next Friday, weather permitting, we shall hold our Sports Day, beginning at 9.30 with our youngest children, 10.30 for our Year 1 and 2 children and KS2 in the afternoon. We hope for a good day as usual (and of course , we hope for fine weather). We shall have a BBQ available and refreshments for those parents who want to make it a real occasion.

    Have a good weekend everyone!

  • Summer Term Week 7

    Fri 08 Jun 2018 Mrs D Davies

A short week but nevertheless a busy one! Throughout the week we have seen our children making full use of the outdoors whether it be practising for school sports or enjoying learning all around the school !

Congratulations to all of our Year 5 children who yesterday participated in Buddy training , thanks to the staff involved and Sport Pembrokeshire for leading the programme of activities, which will help our children to have a clarity of the role in order to determine if they wish to apply for the Y6  posts  - this process is slightly different to how we have undertaken it in previous years and was certainly appreciated by the children .

On Tuesday 12th June there will be strike action at Sir Thomas Picton School This will NOT affect the routines at our school.

    Have an enjoyable weekend everyone.
