Christmas is now fast approaching, in fact it has arrived at school. The outside Christmas tree is alight and the foyer is beginning to glow with Christmas lights as we hear Christmas music on entry. I hope you have all received the finalised Christmas dates which have been sent home and we hope to see you all at some point over the next couple of weeks.

The Box Office will open next Wednesday morning if you wish to collect Nursery/ Reception/ Year 1/ Year2 performance tickets -  you can , of course, just send in your request in an envelope if you prefer. If any grandparents wish to attend the dress rehearsal on Monday 9th December, then please just let us know so we can book your seats.

Our first event will be on Thursday 5th December - Family Bingo at 3.15 - all welcome. After School Clubs will finish on that day as there are so many Christmas events on the following weeks.

Congratulations to our Urdd Swimming Gala team - fantastic results. We must mention Rhys T who will now represent the County in Cardiff.

Well done also to our Football team who came third yesterday.

Our week has finished with a fantastic Music celebration throughout the afternoon - well done to all our great musicians.

    Have a good weekend everyone.

What a great week, following on from our focus of kindness during Anti Bullying week last week - we have continued to have " Caught Moments" with children and staff, focussing upon catching those who offer acts of kindness to others.

Many, many children throughout the school have had a mention this week, whether this has been in passing or via a Headteacher's Award or a Values token from a teacher. The majority of these mentions have been related to being good friends . Well Done!

A highlight of the school's week would be Year 4's Careers Fair on Wednesday, it was a truly fantastic event. A massive thank you to all our presenters who marketed their professions. The children were enthralled as they visited the stalls of a beekeeper, The Torch Theatre, police, builder, volunteer and so much more - up to thirteen different professions. Every learner thought carefully about what they would like to be when they grow up, they were filled with aspiration!

We have ended the week with a super assembly , led by Class 3K. The children gave us lessons in how to be a real life Superhero, something that everyone can aspire to be. We followed their lead by sharing the story " It's Your World Now" -what an amazing book - a beautiful journey through the adventures of life, celebrating the potential of each and every child. Thanks to Miss Harte for discovering and sharing this wonderful piece of literature.

Thank you everyone for a great week, have a fantastic weekend!

What a busy and enjoyable week at school We have had a real focus for Anti Bullying week on " Change Starts with Us" and concentrating on our Values of Respect and Kindness.

The week started with class assemblies for Year 5 and Year 6 led by PC Jennie Thomas, highlighting the importance of good friendships and also responsibilities and consequences. The day continued with Year 6 visiting Withybush Showground and enjoying the annual multi agency safety event with Crucial Crew.

Throughout the week, lessons in different classes have promoted good friendships and kindness. Our oldest children have worked at Friendship Charters, emotional barometers and how to make others feel good. Our youngest children in Reception have been learning how to be " Bucket Fillers" - saying and doing great things to others. Yesterday, we had an assembly with Rachel who shared the bucket message with the whole school . Year 5 and Year 5 and Year 6 girls as well as the School Council participated in workshops setting out plans for the year ahead. Some of our Year 4 pupils also engaged in Splish Splosh activities which began this week.

The week has ended with a super whole school assembly led by some Year 6 girls who gave some excellent messages about good friendships and kindness and also about change starting with us.

Indeed, the children have excelled this week - we have had great fun marking Children in Need with the school looking very yellow and spotty! At the close of day , we have raised £520.42 by selling mini knitted hats, lemonade, cakes , by car washing and  many more mini ventures.

    Have a good weekend everyone.

We have had a great end to a great week at school culminating in Year 5 leading our Remembrance Service earlier today. It was one of those school events which made us all feel so proud of the children. There has been some fantastic literacy work ongoing throughout the week and I think that staff have been  awe when hearing the children read aloud their beautiful poems which were full of imagery. Year 5 pupils  were a credit to their families today. In addition , the rest of the school  were superb, sitting silently through an appropriately solemn event as well as our four year olds respectfully conducting our two minute silence. How proud we all are.

Throughout the week, Mr Voros and myself have been around the school spending time in classes with different groups of children and have been enthralled by the level of engagement in learning.

Next week is Anti Bullying week , the theme of which is CHANGE STARTS WITH US. Throughout the week the children will be exposed to different activities and workshops , beginning with an assembly led by PC Thomas on Monday for Year 5 and 6 , followed by Crucial Crew for Year 6. The week will end of course with Children in Need - feel free everyone to be spotty or dress like Pudsey...…. or both and bring in a small donation if you wish .

    Have a good weekend.
