  • Autumn Term 2018. Week 15

    Fri 21 Dec 2018 Mrs D Davies

The staff have created a little something to thank children and their families for their hard work and continued support this term. You can view it here: https://youtu.be/vIrVzn5Xh7o

I would like to thank everyone for a fantastic term. We have worked so hard yet enjoyed our learning together  - there is so much to celebrate. The term has ended with a fantastic whole school assembly in which we all sang Christmas songs and laughed out aloud together, what a special time .

The children are tired and ready for a break -we particularly thank our youngest classes who led Christmas performances throughout this week, a credit to their families - you will see some photos uploaded on to the class pages area on this website. I would like to thank all of our audiences for being so respectful towards our younger children -this includes all of our beautifully behaved babies and toddlers who sat through the performances.

Congratulations to all of the many children who received a Bronze attendance badge this week and also to those who now have a Silver attendance badge  - what an achievement! We do realise that some children try really hard with attendance and  there is of course, genuine illness. We hope that by the end of the academic year, all children will secure a Bronze badge. We shall be aware of special circumstances for individuals.

The outcome of our Estyn monitoring visit was published yesterday and the school has received a report which I feel that you would wish to read, you will find this on the Estyn area of this website and the first section is attached to the newsletter sent home today - Friday.

As we look forward to next term, we welcome Ms Howells to the Year 5 team, she will teach 5E on Wednesdays, Miss Edwards will teach 2B and Miss Bell will cover Mrs Picton Jones's maternity leave from February onwards. Mrs Slade and Mrs Buxton , both of whom have been at the school for many years, will join our Nursery team. We wish Ms Bond every success as she moves on to her new school in January, we shall miss her.

On behalf of staff, Governors, and of course, our children  - I wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy and Healthy New Year!

  • Music Afternoon

Fri 21 Dec 2018 Miss Roberts

A huge well done to the children who took part in our music afternoon earlier this week. The performances were brilliant, and it was lovely to hear our newly reformed Orchestra performing together.

  • Autumn Term 2018. Week 14

    Fri 14 Dec 2018

Christmas has certainly arrived at Prendergast C.P..Our Foundation Phase classes have been rehearsing for their production of Baubles, performances are scheduled for next week. There is a genuine excitement around the place as soon as the stage is in place.

Classes in Reception to Year 6 have had the opportunity to visit The Torch Theatre in order to watch the production of Pinocchio. I am always grateful for the way in which parents support us with such events - from the donations they give to the respectful waiting for children to exit buses/ the building in a safe manner. Everyone had a great time.

Today, the children in 3R led our community assembly with purposeful messages for Christmas time - clearly prompting us to appreciate our luxuries at Christmas but to also think about those less fortunate , cross the world and more locally.

The week has ended with almost one hundred children enjoying a Christmas Craft afternoon with their parents. My thanks to all the members of staff who led this event and to all the parents who participated.

Well Done to our VIPs / Readers and Writers of the Week !! Super work.

Remember diary dates for next week - performances, parties on Wednesday, music afternoon on Thursday.

  • Autumn Term 2018, Week 13

    Fri 07 Dec 2018 Mrs D Davies

What a great week at school!  Our Reception children have had  a fantastic week , beginning with their visit to The Secret Owl Garden and finishing the week with  a visit to St Mary's church to participate in The Nativity story.

The week ended with our whole school Christmas lunch , it was a real treat to see our hundreds of children and staff members all eating lunch together , banquet style ! What a wonderful sight.

We have had Estyn Inspectors with us this week, it was delightful to see how our children were so keen to meet with them in order to talk about their learning.

Christmas really begins next week with our Box Office opening and also Torch Theatre visits - have a good weekend everyone !!
